Lexus has officially unveiled the Lexus LFA Concept – a bold new battery-electric (BEV) sports car developed to showcase the future of high-performance electrification.

Driven by the philosophy that certain car-making skills must be preserved and passed on, the LFA Concept reflects the passion of Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Chairman and Master Driver, Akio Toyoda (also known as Morizo). Developed alongside TOYOTA Gazoo Racing’s GR GT and GR GT3 projects, the LFA Concept draws inspiration from icons such as the Toyota 2000GT and the original Lexus LFA. It continues the spirit of Toyota’s Shikinen Sengu – the company’s commitment to protecting, evolving and transmitting engineering craft from one generation to the next.

With this new concept, Lexus aims to build a BEV sports car that delivers the kind of performance, emotion and design excellence that exceed customer expectations. It represents a unified, one-team effort across Lexus and Toyota’s motorsport and performance divisions to shape the future of the electric sports car.

A Next-Generation BEV Sports Car Shaped by Motorsport Know-How

The Lexus LFA Concept forms part of a trio of next-generation performance vehicles – the LFA Concept, GR GT and GR GT3 – all built around three core engineering pillars: a low centre of gravity, lightweight construction with high rigidity, and exceptional aerodynamic efficiency.

At the heart of the LFA Concept is an ultra-light, high-rigidity all-aluminium body frame designed for outstanding responsiveness and stability. Lexus has also prioritised the ideal driving position, ensuring tight car-and-driver integration and intuitive control – a hallmark of Lexus’ electrification strategy.

This meticulous approach to packaging has enabled Lexus to create a BEV sports car with the dynamic character inspired by GR GT and GR GT3 machinery, while introducing a timeless design language that will stand well into the next generation. Although its name recalls the legendary V10-powered LFA, “LFA” now symbolises a lineage of vehicles that embody essential engineering knowledge worth preserving for the future – knowledge that will be continuously refined as Lexus moves deeper into the era of electrified performance.

Discover Immersion: A Deeper, More Engaging Driving Experience

Even in a rapidly changing mobility landscape, the pure thrill of driving remains central to the appeal of a sports car. Lexus has captured this philosophy in “Discover Immersion”, the core experiential idea behind the LFA Concept.

The design team focused on creating a driving environment that draws the driver deeply into the experience. This begins with an exceptional blend of aerodynamic performance and sculptural beauty. Every contour and surface has been crafted to enhance both function and emotion.

Inside, the cockpit revolves around the ideal driving position and absolute driver focus. Controls, interfaces and ergonomics have been refined with precision. The result is a driver-centric environment where operation becomes instinctive – almost an extension of the driver’s own intention.

A New Expression of Lexus Sports Car Design

While the LFA Concept inherits the sensual, sculptural character of the original Lexus LFA, it introduces a refreshed sense of balance and timeless style enabled by BEV-specific packaging.

The all-aluminium frame developed for the GR GT gives the new concept a purposeful stance, while its flowing, low nose-to-tail silhouette channels classic sports-car proportions. The result is a design that feels both universally appealing and unmistakably Lexus – a shape capable of resonating across cultures and eras.

Lexus’ aim was to envision a sports car with global emotional impact: one that captures attention not through excess, but through harmony, purity and confidence.

An Immersive Cockpit Inspired by Motorsport

Built around the same ideal driving position used in the GR GT and GR GT3, the cockpit enhances the sense of unity between driver and machine.

The interior is intentionally simple and minimalist, with all key functions concentrated around the driver. The steering wheel has been engineered specifically for sports-car usage, enabling smooth steering inputs without the need to change hand positions mid-corner. Switches are placed for blind-touch usability, reinforcing seamless, intuitive control.

The LFA Concept’s interior blends mechanical beauty with refined simplicity, creating a uniquely immersive space that heightens anticipation the moment the driver steps inside.

The Latest Evolution of a New Lexus Icon

The Lexus LFA Concept builds on the exterior and interior design previously showcased as the “Lexus Sport Concept” at Monterey Car Week 2025 and the Japan Mobility Show 2025. Now officially named and presented with updated specifications, the LFA Concept signals Lexus’ intent to accelerate the development of high-performance BEVs rooted in craftsmanship, motorsport expertise and engineering heritage.

With the LFA Concept, Lexus continues its mission to reimagine the future of sports cars – combining the emotional pull of driving with advanced electrification and the timeless values of automotive craftsmanship.
